Happy New Year!

Surprisingly, the December 14th Workshop was attended by three spirited participants despite the heavy snowfall that compromised the confidence of most drivers in Vancouver (including mine). Beautiful cards were made, new ideas were formed and many laughs were had and I discovered that the Honda Civic is a fine car for manuevering through the snowy inclines and backroads of this city. I've just returned from celebrating the holidays in California where I held a cardmaking workshop for family members ranging from 8 to 67 years old. While challenging, the results were impressive and it has inspired me to create newer projects for the younger paper enthusiasts.

The holidays are here and so I'm preparing to host another one of my famous Card Making Workshops in Gastown! I teach you how to use the tools of the trade and create an assortment of really beautiful greeting cards that will surprise and delight your friends/family. The workshop will be 2.5 hours and you'll get hands-on experience using a paper trimmer, Big Shot embosser, die cutter, Crop-a-Dile eyelet setter, rubber and acrylic stamps and much more. You won't want to leave. The cost for this one is $20 and includes all of the supplies, you just show up ready to have fun. Email me to register...andria@pixiepaperie.com

By the way, many people signed up at the Art Crawl to win a free workshop. I have just notified the winner, Sheila Nolan, by email but haven't heard back from her, yet. I hope she can make it.

Post Art Crawl

Well, the Art Crawl was really good to me. I sold a bunch of cards and met so many cool people. Doing the Art Crawl has given me reassurance that I just need to keep doing what I'm doing which is making cards and hosting workshops. Now, I'm still trying to firm up a date for the next public workshop...looks like it will be Sunday, December 14. I will post all the details as soon as I have them. I have also decided to make 'house-calls' where I do the workshop in your home since there seems to be a big demand for this. Email me andria@pixiepaperie.com if you are interested. Cheers!

Vancouver Art Crawl 2008

Come see me and my Pixie Paperie cards at the Vancouver Eastside Art Crawl. The Eastside Art Crawl is an annual FREE 3-day visual arts festival that begins tomorrow, November 21. I will be 'unveiling' my Black Magic Holiday Series...a sampling appears on my website...www.pixiepaperie.com. Gotta go make some envelopes, hope to see you there. Oh, also doing another workshop on Monday at EWMA. The next public workshop will be either December 7th or 14th. I will post the details soon.

What a wonderful opportunity it was to work with the 7 participants at the EWMA (Enterprising Women Making Art) Workshop on Monday. Here are some of them resting during the snack break...from left to right, Paola, Mariana (the organizer), Alice, Val and Carole. Everyone commented on how much FUN it was to make cards and expressed interest in making more to sell at the Craft Fair. So, we'll be working together over the next two weeks to make that happen. These women mean business!

Thanks to everyone who attended the card making workshop on Sunday. I think it was a great success. The next workshop I'm hosting will be for Atira's Enterprising Women Making Art (EWMA). EWMA is a harm reduction and social development program for women who face multiple barriers to employment in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. It'll be another card making workshop and will be held November 10th from 1-4 pm. I've aleady met a lot of the women who attend EWMA's workshops and they are very creative and enthusiastic. They will be making cards to sell at the Brittania Craft Fair later this month. $$$$

The Year of the Butterfly

A wise woman declared 2008 the Year of the Butterfly. I'm not sure if she's psychic or just optimistic but my best guess is that she's both. This has certainly been a year of major rebirth, renewal, growth, metamorphasis for me including the start of my craft venture I'm calling Pixie Paperie. Stay tuned for more...
